MOURNING
Mourning is dull black
It sounds like eerie midnight howl.
It feels like torn guts.
It smells like moldy mortuary.
It tastes like burnt, stale meat.
Going to the park together with friends, arm linked in arm,
In our hearts leaps the happiness of soaring swings, humming birds, butterfly’s charm.
Glowing and twittering, chirping and glittering like the inmate of old MacDonald’s farm.
Glancing back at my childhood, heart misses a beat and is alarmed,
Lingering on the threshold of two stages, one step back, another in a fascinating youth.
Entering the new, embracing the old I am at last able to enjoy after storm, dull & calm.
Knock! Knock! On my window
Oh no! It’s a Sunday.
I snuggle back in the pillows
Trying to catch few more naps
No way! It’s again a knock knock
And a tap tap, a warm pat.
I open my eyes
“Oh Sun! Why are you so bad?
Don’t you want me to rest and nap?”
He winks his bright mischievous wink.
“Darling its morning I think.
Throw away your blanket of mink
Let your lazy body in a bubble bath sink.”
I go red and pink.
“You know what
I can vanish you with two winks.”
But then, why not listen to my buddy I think.
He is the one who plays hide & seek since I was a child.
Although a fiery bun, for me he is mild,
He gives me brotherly warm hugs
Whenever my heart is lonely cold and wild.
Most of the times, he fumes n fret
Sometimes he frowns, and makes me sweat
But when he his dashing smile flash
I give up! And don’t want to clash.
He is my buddy! And my life’s part!
Oh sure! He is close to my heart
So I get up with a start
Ok Sun! Let’s go, play and have fun.
I am a white jasmine
Virtuous and fragile
Blooming without intruding
Spreading its incense while staying unseen.
Embracing the golden sunshine, the snowy rain
While trying to spread the real bliss all around.
Turning fury to joy
Blissful and ingenuous
I am a white pearly jasmine flower.
Life is a vibgyor with all the seven colours of spectrum,
Showing all the shades of life.
In infancy it’s the pure innocent white,
Rejoicing in mother’s love,
And then springing to yellow to a playful
Wild life, experiencing all the new moods and swings in its flight.
Then it takes a turn to the radiant orange and red,
Going through the rose love, while
Learning the real meaning of life.
Then it slowly starts to move towards the
Midnight blue going all the way from violet and indigo,
Relishing its old golden age.
After appreciating all the shades,
Life finally reaches the end in the dark space
To rest in calm grey night.
Orange and White
Some days I'm blazing Orange
Bright and smart
Tangy and peppy
Singing and dancing like a sunny breeze.
Other days I'm dew dipped jasmine White
Modest and virtuous like a tiny dove
Anxious yet quite!
Wanting to show real me, while staying unseen.
Tangled and tied in colours soft and bright
I am sometimes Orange bright and sometimes shy White.
Just Slow down, enjoy life
Enjoy the day, enjoy the night.
Enjoy the scent of flowers,
The savour of rain,
Enjoy the very essence of your soul.
Enjoy each motion of dance,
Each rhythm of song,
Enjoy each pace of your walk.
This the only life,
Slow down, live it king like.
Enjoy every part of the dream,
Face every reality,
Enjoy every smile, bear every cry.
Enjoy the melting chocolate,
The sour, tangy tamarind,
Enjoy each flavour of life.
Don’t rush, slowdown,
Sing the song of life.
